This page contains a checklist of tasks for new students joining the group.
Please ask other students for help with any of these tasks, and you can always
ask one of the staff members or faculty. Do not hesitate to ask questions!

## Basic Email and LDAP:
1. IITDH uses the Google Suite for official email. Please reset your password
as soon as you get access to your account. This username/password will be used
for all Google Suite Tools.
2. You will also be given an [LDAP](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightweight_Directory_Access_Protocol)
account - this is used to access all non-google resources, like the institute WiFi/LAN,
[Git Repositories](https://gitea.iitdh.ac.in/), FTP service,
3. If you use Linux, [please add the institute repos to your package manager](https://intranet.iitdh.ac.in:444/CCS/FTP/How%20to%20Access%20IITDH%E2%80%99s%20FTP%20in%20Your%20PC.pdf).
This enables your OS to install packages from the local server instead of
having to download all packages from the internet, and greately speeds up installation
and update.
